Aseptic Connection Device

For sterile connections of tubing, with a built-in hood

The disposable Aseptic Connection Device (ACD) allows for the dry connection of two seperate fluid pathways, while maintaining the sterile integrity of both.  The ACD consists of a male and female connector, each covered by a vented peel away strip that protects the port and maintains the sterility of the sterile fluid pathway.

Benefits

  • No capital equipment required
  • Connection is made in seconds
  • Easy to make connection - even in a cramped environment
  • Maintains a sterile fluid pathway upon activation of device
  • Peel away strip maintains sterility until ready to use
  • Vented to allow steam penetration and to prevent tubing collapse after autoclaving
  • Shape coding ensures proper alignment
  • Device make audible snap when engaged

Connection

  • The protective caps are removed
  • The male connector is aligned with the femal connector by matching the shape at the connection point so that the vented peel away strips are facing each other as they exit from the flat side of the connectors
  • The male and female connectors snap together.
  • The two peel away strips are pulled out simultaneously.
  • To initate the sterile path inside the device, the plunger inside the male connector is turned by rotating the thum rest on the top of the male connector one full turn. This rotation diables the anti-actuation device that prevents inadvertent engagement.
  • Flow can be initiated by pushing the thumb rest of the male connector down unti lthe plunger engages into the female connector. The fluid then flows through the spike and the female connector.
